Who we work with.

At TheraDance, we work with people of all ages and abilities — from early childhood through to older adulthood.

Our programs support individuals with physical, intellectual, and psychosocial disabilities, as well as mainstream participants pursuing therapeutic goals such as ageing well, building confidence, or preparing for or recovering from surgery.

Whether you’re seeking individualised support, the motivation of a small group, or an engaging holiday intensive, every TheraDance program is grounded in occupational therapy and the joy of movement.

  • Occupational Therapy (OT) is the art and science of enabling engagement in everyday living, through occupation; of enabling people to perform the occupations that foster health and well-being; and of enabling a just and inclusive society so that all people may participate to their potential in the daily occupations of life.

    (Townsend & Polatajko, 2007, p. 372).

  • Occupational Therapists (OT’s) are highly skilled healthcare professionals who have undergone extensive training. In Australia, entry-level qualifications for occupational therapists require the completion of an accredited university program, which can be either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. To practice, occupational therapists must also be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and meet ongoing professional development requirements.

  • TheraDance combines the therapeutic benefits of dance with the expertise of occupational therapy to support participants of all ages, whether living with lifelong disability or managing acute or chronic conditions. Our approach integrates the artistry and structure of ballet-inspired movement to build muscle strength, enhance coordination, improve balance, and promote postural alignment. These physical benefits are complemented by cognitive gains, including improved memory, planning, sequencing, and executive function, which are vital for daily living.
